Self-adhesive booklet labels for jewellery

Patented label offering greater data capacity despite its small size

Birkenfeld, 06.08.2026. Self-adhesive booklet labels for jewellery are a patented invention by Ferdinand Eisele GmbH, based in Birkenfeld near Pforzheim. The label manufacturer, focusing on jewellery and watches, has taken a fresh approach to the popular loop label concept: featuring two additional labelling areas and a specially designed fold, the booklet label offers space for twice as much information as a conventional loop label of a comparable size. The production and use of this label design are documented in a video tutorial on the website and YouTube channel of eXtra4 Labelling Systems, the company’s brand. ...

for labelling jewellery

Patented solution for double the data capacity at labels with fastening loop

Booklet labels offer two more pages than standard labels with a fastening loop. Thanks to their patented design, they can display twice the amount of information in the form of a compact booklet attached to the jewellery. The dimensions of the label remain visually the same; it simply features four labelling areas instead of the usual two. As self-adhesive labels, booklet labels, like loop labels, can be printed with data on-site at the user’s premises using a desktop-class thermal transfer printer.

Structure of an item number As a core component of stock management, the item number should be easy to handle. It must not be too long and complex for this. In eXtra4 practice, a number sequence with eight digits has proven its worth. Instead of assigning the item number completely randomly, it is advisable to develop a speaking key based on a categorisation of the stock of goods into item groups. With an 8-digit item number, the first four digits of the number sequence can be used for the item group and the following four for a consecutive or random number, i.e. for up to 10,000 items per item group.

Video tutorial on eXtra4-labelM1 - Software for label printing via macOS The label printing software eXtra4-labelM1 leads to the printed label with just a few clicks. Following the eXtra4 guideline "KISS - keep it small and simple", the software for Apple users is focused on printing labels for labelling jewellery and watches. As a data entry screen, eXtra4-labelM1 displays a label on the screen with all parameters already set. Without spending time on label design, the user can start data typing right away. Thanks to WYSIWYG, he can see everything immediately in print look and position. Now determine the label run and trigger printing - and the label is ready - printed with the highest precision, as the software communicates directly with the printer in its command language.

Video demonstration: PRIME Guard Labels - Security labels based on self-destructing material: Non-re-positionable labels with tamper proofing. PRIME-Guard labels are based on self-destructing material, the security effect of which not only prevents fraudulent reapplication of labels to goods that have already been used, but also provides unmistakable evidence of attempted tampering. An attempt to separate again the firmly adhering adhesive surfaces of the label once closed causes the adhesive film to tear in a defined structure. The label areas show a transparent triangle pattern.

As an expert in labelling jewellery and watches, Ferdinand Eisele has developed accessories that significantly improve the performance of thermal transfer printers: In order to compensate for technical differences between the label roll and the printer, the company from the Pforzheim area offers reel core adapters under its eXtra4 Labelling Systems brand, which permanently guarantee accurate printing.

When first attached, the permanent adhesive bonds the aherent label surfaces so tightly that an attempt to reopen the label will split the material into layers. The split label areas are unglued, so they do not stick and cannot be rejoined immediately. Video demonstration: WrapTags - high-end labels in use for jewellery. Patented label solution for higher demands The self-adhesive label has 4 sections - two opaque fields for data from the thermal transfer printer or professional logo printing in corporate design and two transparent ones that protectively cover the imprint as a laminate when the label is folded. WrapTags withstand treatment in the polishing tumbler without damage. They do not have to be removed and reattached to the matching piece, but can remain on the jewellery.

Label manufacturer Ferdinand Eisele counts the development of innovative label solutions among its core competencies. The specialist for the needs of the jewellery and watch industry has applied for a patent for WrapTags. This type of label can be printed on in the same way as standard self-adhesive labels, but then protects the imprint itself with an additional layer of foil. A tag of this line is now available from stock at eXtra4. To illustrate the application, the company from Birkenfeld near Pforzheim has published videos. They are available at www.extra4.com .
